Reblogging this from False Economy; should be an interesting debate. I’ll post more on this when I receive an update.
For all those interested in privatisation of public services – and why it should stop:
At 2:15 pm today, the Public Accounts Committee will question the following companies regarding failures to deliver the public services in contracts for which the taxpayer has forked out huge money:
Ashley Almanza, Chief Executive, G4S, Paul Pindar, Chief Executive, Capita, Alistair Lyons CBE, Chairman, Serco and Ursula Morgenstern, Regional Chief Executive Officer, UK and Ireland, Atos.
Location: Room 15, Palace of Westminster
This as the scandal regarding G4S and Serco overcharging for electronic tagging continues and Capita prepares to is lined up to take those contracts over. Capita has its own problems as the key player in the deeply unpopular privatisation of Barnet council and as the company responsible for outsourced court translation services.
