Description

The Autumn Statement signalled the Government’s commitment to improving mental health and employment outcomes, building on evidence-based interventions that improve the employment and health prospects for people with common mental health problems. Research suggests that being out of work for long periods of time is damaging to health, social and financial well-being, and the longer someone is off sick, the harder it is for them to get back to work. The Mental Health Taskforce, launched in December 2014 and chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, has focused interest particularly on mental health and employment. It recognises mental health is a mainstream issue and the Taskforce asked Government Departments to look at developing new policies that would strengthen the support offered to people with mental health conditions. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Department of Health (DH) collaborated to produce a package of measures As a part of these measures, DWP is considering the procurement of online supported Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) provision across the whole of England. This provision is designed to support people with common mental health conditions to prepare for and move into work, with intervention at the earliest possible point in a claim to benefit or access to the Fit for Work service. Specifically we would require a supported service (with for example telephone or live online support or online face-to-face therapy), in line with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) approved treatment. We anticipate awarding at least two contracts, lasting for approximately two years from the date of commencement. These contracts are expected to begin in early 2016.

This also feeds into their agenda….. for In work claimants….. so much for their denials of so much pt work etc….. its all part of their long term plan….. their only interests is creating more slaves for their corporate buddies…. I heard some ah from the government calling Britain ‘The WorkFactory’ of Europe;… Looks like we are competing with China and India…. CBT is just another Behavioural Insights Idea to coerse the workforce to accept anything that is thrown their way….. Paid Slaves……

Read this: This is the kind of thoughtful research the Gov carries out in order to get approval for their Policies. Then they just take the bits they want and discard the rest…

No doubt youve seen these before, but doesnt hurt recirculating them for those who havent seen the bigger picture unfolding in the background.

makes me angry too, and sometimes despairing.

All these jobs they are creating using Private corporations, is one thing, but whats even harder to accept is that they will be recruiting professionals who would ordinarily be working for the NHS>…… Depriving the NHs of a workforce. Ive read that there is now a shortage of paramedics, as companies like ATOS Capita and Maximus have been on a recruitment drive offering larger salaries as incentives to get health care professionals to jump ship…… Where will it all end!!!!

      • It will be interesting to see who bids for this “contract”
I have a real problem with people making money out of the mentally ill; it may not be illegal (though it should be) but it is certainly immoral.

  2. Funny they are never short of money for their fruitcake schemes. Years ago I provided admin support for a Mental Handicap/Mental Illness Team. People had very serious problems – genetic/birth damage/vaccine damage/consequences of illness & accidents/serious behavioural problems. If they weren’t really serious problems we didn’t see them. It was during Thatcher’s “care in the community” (throw them on the street and send SWs to chase after them for 1 hour a week). Resources were hugely inadequate even then. So what is going on? Political hi-jacking of resources from genuine need to pursue a political agenda? Is this some loony religious cult ideology that mental illness/handicap is only imaginary, “all in the mind”. State definition of “normal” is what exactly? Passive acceptance of slavery for the common folk. Limitless greed and arrogance from the “ruling” elite? (Sorry for ranting – the Machiavellian mind-twisting games our political class play make me furious).
